WHO WE ARE
We are a fundamentalist, spirit filled, bible believing church, preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
OUR BELIEFS AND VALUES
One God
There is only one true and living God- His Name is JESUS. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. He created the world and everything in it. To know Him gives us peace, joy, and fulfillment, and is the source of strength in our lives. We were created to have fellowship with Him and to worship Him (Deut 6:4, Isa 44:6, Mat 28:18, Col 2:9).
Baptism
Though Jesus’s sacrifice and resurrection, we are given the gift of salvation through repentance, the receiving of the Holy Ghost, and baptism in the NAME of the father, son, and holy ghost (Jn 11:25, Rom 6:8-11, Rom 4:25, Act 2:38, Act 3:19, 1 Pet 3:21, Jn 3:5, Eph 4:5, Act 2:4, Act 19:6).
The Holy Ghost
God plays a present and active role in our lives. We firmly believe that God ministers to us in the same way that He did throughout the New Testament. We believe that God speaks to us through the Holy Ghost, giving us utterance and other spiritual gifts (Acts 2:4, Mark 16:17, 1 Corinthians 12:8-11).
Scripture
We believe that the Holy Bible is the authoritative word of God, and it is timeless and true (John 1:1, Romans 15:4, Matthew 24:35, John 17:17). For this reason, we always use scripture to support every belief and action.
Praise & Worship
The Bible declared that everything that has breath praise the LORD (Psalm 150:6). We believe that praise and worship is a tool to connect with God, and not only thank Him for all He has done, but also to exalt Him for who He is. For this reason, we encourage entering into His presence with our hands lifted and with a sacrifice of praise (Psalm 150:1-6, John 4:23, Hebrews 13:15, Psalm 95:1-6, Psalm 149:3)
The Great Commission
It is our duty as followers of Christ to communicate Jesus to every nation and all of creation (Mark 16:15). We preach the Gospel and make disciples by baptizing them in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins, teaching them the word of God, so that they may live righteously (Matthew 28:18-20, John 20:21).
Community
Something that is valued greatly at Rochester Praise Tabernacle is community and unity within the Church. God has called us to be in fellowship with one another and to serve Him together (Matthew 18:20, Proverbs 21:17). The Church is not made up of a single body, but a collective group of members, formed together as one body (Romans 12:1-5, Hebrews 10:24-25).
The Gifts of the Spirit
We believe that the gifts of the spirit are alive and accessible to all who have been saved. As believers we are given the gifts of the Holy Spirit to glorify God and to serve others. (1 Corinthians 12).
Our Vision
To see people BE BAPTIZED in the Name of Jesus Christ, WALK BY FAITH, and LIVE RIGHTEOUS LIVES according to the Word of God
